Overview

Meru is where Joy and George Adamson raised Elsa the lioness, and it still feels like a well-kept secret. Rivers lined with doum palms, a rhino sanctuary and species you only see in the north: reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra and gerenuk.

Elsa’s Kopje is built into the rock on Mughwango Hill, and on most game drives you will not see another vehicle.

Highlights

  • White rhino in the Meru rhino sanctuary
  • George Adamson's original camp site
  • Reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and Grevy's zebra
  • Game drives with almost no other vehicles
