Overview

Tsavo West is volcanic and dramatic, with black lava fields, cone-shaped hills and the crystal-clear Mzima Springs, where hippos can be watched from an underwater observation tank.

Finch Hattons brings a touch of 1920s safari glamour to the wilderness: crystal glasses, silver service and a spring-fed lake full of hippo right in front of the suites.

Highlights

  • Hippo and crocodile from the underwater hide at Mzima Springs
  • Tsavo's famously red elephants
  • The Shetani lava flow
  • Two nights at Finch Hattons
