Overview

KwaZulu-Natal gives you the bush and the sea in one trip. Hluhluwe-iMfolozi is the oldest game reserve in Africa and the home of the white rhino, and iSimangaliso, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a coast of lakes, forested dunes and warm-water reefs.

You stay two nights at Rhino Ridge, then three at Thonga Beach Lodge, on a forested dune above an empty beach. It is a good trip for travellers who want game viewing and a swim in one week.

Highlights

  • White and black rhinos at Hluhluwe-iMfolozi
  • Two nights at Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge
  • Three nights at Thonga Beach Lodge on the coast
  • Snorkelling on warm-water reefs
  • Turtles in summer and whales in winter
