Ride out in the cool of the morning. Horses let you get surprisingly close to wildlife. In the afternoon, meet the rhino protection unit and their tracker dogs, then walk with a guide to a sundowner spot above the plains.

Pack light, neutral colours for game drives, a warm fleece for early mornings, a sun hat and good sunscreen. Light aircraft have a soft-bag limit of 15 kg per person including hand luggage, so leave the hard suitcases at home.
