Overview

The Aberdares are cool, misty and completely different from the savannah parks. You drive through bamboo and highland forest, look for waterfalls and spend the night at The Ark, where animals come to a floodlit waterhole below your window.

We add a first night at Hemingways in Karen so you can start with a visit to the baby elephants at the Sheldrick orphanage.

Highlights

  • Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant orphanage
  • Karura and Chania waterfalls
  • Night game viewing from The Ark
  • Chance of the rare bongo antelope
