In the green season from December to April thousands of zebra and wildebeest come to the grass pans of Nxai Pan, and the Makgadikgadi turns from a white desert to a green plain with flamingos on its water. It is a quiet, spectacular time to visit, with the dust washed from the air and the sky full of clouds.
Two nights at Nxai Pan Camp, with a sunset at Baines’ Baobabs, and three at Jack’s Camp, with meerkats and quad bikes, are linked by short flights from Maun.
