The south of Namibia is quieter and more dramatic than the usual northern circuit. You start in the red dunes of the Kalahari, see the Fish River Canyon, the largest in Africa, at sunset, walk through the sand-filled ghost town of Kolmanskop and the old German port of Luderitz, and finish at the red dunes of Sossusvlei.
It is a road trip with long distances, with lodges that reward the drive: the canyon rim, the sea and the stars.
