Overview

If you want the full sweep of Uganda in a single week, this is it. You begin where the Nile crashes through Murchison Falls and finish in the rainforest with a gorilla family, taking in the chimpanzees of Kibale and the plains of Queen Elizabeth along the way.

We use a flight from Bwindi back to Entebbe at the end, so your last day is spent with the gorillas and not in a car.

Highlights

  • Boat safari to the foot of Murchison Falls
  • Game drives on the Nile delta for giraffe and lion
  • Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale
  • Kazinga Channel boat safari
  • Gorilla trekking in Bwindi

Good to know

For gorilla and chimp treks, bring sturdy waterproof hiking boots, long trousers you can tuck into your socks, a long-sleeved shirt, a light rain jacket and gardening gloves for grabbing vines. Porters are available at the trailhead and we recommend hiring one: it helps your trek and supports the local community.

Pack light, neutral colours for game drives, a warm fleece for early mornings, a sun hat and good sunscreen. Light aircraft have a soft-bag limit of 15 kg per person including hand luggage, so leave the hard suitcases at home.
