Fly to Morondava on the west coast and drive out at dusk to the Avenue of the Baobabs, where giant trees glow orange in the last light.
Then head north along red dirt roads and river ferries to the Tsingy, where ladders and rope bridges lead you through a forest of limestone pinnacles.
The Tsingy can only be visited in the dry season. The road becomes impassable from about December to March, and we recommend travelling from June to mid-October.
