Overview

This honeymoon is built around two very different places. You begin in the cloud forest of the Virunga volcanoes, with a night at Wilderness Bisate Lodge and a morning with the gorillas, and you finish on the quiet shore of Lake Kivu at Cormoran Lodge.

There is one big adventure and a lot of rest, with private time at both lodges, a sunset boat on the lake and no early starts after the trek.

Highlights

  • A night in a volcanic cone at Wilderness Bisate Lodge
  • Mountain gorilla trekking for two
  • A sunset boat trip on Lake Kivu
  • Two nights at Cormoran Lodge on the lake
  • Private transfers in a comfortable vehicle

Good to know

For gorilla and chimp treks, bring sturdy waterproof hiking boots, long trousers you can tuck into your socks, a long-sleeved shirt, a light rain jacket and gardening gloves for grabbing vines. Porters are available at the trailhead and we recommend hiring one: it helps your trek and supports the local community.

Pack light, neutral colours for game drives, a warm fleece for early mornings, a sun hat and good sunscreen.
