Overview

Pemba is Zanzibar’s quiet, green neighbour: hilly, scented with cloves and ringed by coral. Hardly anyone visits, and the diving and snorkelling are among the best in East Africa.

Fundu Lagoon can only be reached by boat, which makes it feel like an island within an island. The days are for the reef, a visit to a clove plantation, a walk in the Ngezi Forest, and the jetty bar at sunset.

Highlights

  • Diving and snorkelling on the Pemba reefs
  • A boat to Fundu Lagoon, a barefoot lodge
  • A clove plantation visit
  • The Ngezi Forest and its rare bats
  • The jetty bar at sunset
