Greystoke Mahale sits on a white beach on the shore of Lake Tanganyika, with the forested Mahale Mountains rising behind it. It is a small, barefoot camp of wood-and-thatch bandas, at least 60 kilometres from any road, with chimpanzee treks in the morning and kayaks, dhows and snorkelling on the lake in the afternoon.
