Overview

Jinja is where the Nile leaves Lake Victoria, and the rapids downstream are some of the best commercial white water in the world. We pair a full day on the river with two nights at Wildwaters Lodge, on its own forested island, so the adrenaline comes with an outdoor bath and a cold drink at the end of it.

You do not need rafting experience. The guides are some of the most skilled on the continent, and there is a gentler family route for anyone who would rather watch the big rapids from the bank.

Highlights

  • A full day rafting grade 5 rapids on the White Nile
  • Two nights on a private island surrounded by the river
  • Optional 44-metre bungee jump over the Nile
  • Sunset cruise to the Source of the Nile

We collect you after breakfast and drive east through sugar and tea estates to Jinja. After lunch at the lodge, a boat takes you up to the spot where the Nile begins its 6,650-kilometre journey to the Mediterranean. Back on the island, dinner is served on the deck with the sound of the rapids all around.

Day 2 A full day on the White Nile Jinja

After a safety briefing you head onto the river for the day. The route takes in a string of big rapids with names like Itanda and The Bad Place, broken by calm stretches where you can jump in and float. Lunch is on the riverbank. The team films the day, and in the evening you can watch yourself flip over with a glass of wine in hand.
